Shazam: Power of Hope Gallery Showing
The Auction ended March 2001 at www.AlexRossAuction.com.

February 22, 2001 - Chicago, IL
AlexRossAuction hosted a gallery showing of the original art from SHAZAM!: POWER OF HOPE at The Society for Arts. The showing was in anticipation of the online auction of the art on March 5, 2001. Alex Ross (artist/painter of the book) will auction all of the art from the book and donate the proceeds to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Walt meets Clark Ross

On hand were Alex Ross (artist/painter), Sal Abbinanti (Ross' model for Captain Marvel), Alex' parents Clark (model for Shazam) and Lynette Ross, and Bob Riley (webmaster of AlexRossArt.com and AlexRossAuction.com). The gallery was swamped with friends and admirers of Alex Ross.

Every piece of artwork was matted and hung from the ceiling. Spectators could walk around the entire gallery taking in each page (in order) as it appeared in the book. The original artwork is stunning to behold. The color is vibrant and Ross' attention to detail is brilliant. Any piece in the set would make a gorgeous addition to any lucky buyer's collection.

Attending a Ross party is a very interesting event. I kept staring at many of the guests wondering where I had seen them before. My bewilderment was abated when Ross' webmaster, Bob Riley, pointed out that several of the guests were Ross' models. I even had the pleasure of meeting Rhonda Hampton, Alex' new Wonder Woman model. Steve Darnell writer of the Ross-painted Uncle Sam series was in attendance as well.
