Origin

Lance O'Casey and Mr. Hogan make their first appearance. Lance O'Casey — swashbuckling sailor of fortune traveled Earth's water ways with his “first-mate” the monkey, Mr. Hogan aboard the sailboat “The Brian Boru”. Lance's base of operations was the South Sea island of Maloana.

At some point Lance gave up “The Brian Boru” and Mr. Hogan and took on his new sailboat “The Starfish” and his new first mate... Mike Bellew. Lance and Mike, much like the crime-fighting Mr. Scarlet, were often down on their luck and looking to transport cargo, search for the odd bit of treasure or help many a dashing damsel in distress — moving from one adventure to the next. Although Lance and Mike often sailed the South Seas they could also be found on the wharves of the western United States.

Post-Crisis

Lance O'Casey makes his DC Comics debut. An older Lance O'Casey resurfaced in the restructured DC Universe as a charter boat captain. Lance was duped by a pair of kidnappers to take Billy to a “surprise party” via his charter boat. Lance figured that the kidnappers weren't on the up-and-up and tried to drop them in the drink. Unfortunately, the kidnappers turned the table on Lance and dumped him into the lake. Lance was saved by Gangbuster and then piloted a different boat so that Gangbuster could catch the kidnappers. Lance O'Casey has not been seen since.
