Cataloging Captain Marvel's Magical Powers: Invulnerability
Thursday, October 2, 2008
Captain Marvel's powers were burgeoning and it wasn't long before his invulnerability was taken to a new level.

As Billy Batson lay helpless in a diabolical Dr. Sivana trap, it seemed that the young newsboy was about to meet his maker in a bath of molten steel. Luckily a glob of the white hot metal was able to burn away his gag without harm and Billy quickly said the magic word to transform into Captain Marvel.

With no time to spare, Cap burst through the chains that had bound him as Billy, but rather than leaping away from molten iron, he let it envelop his body as he likened it to a hot bath.

If there was any doubt about Cap's invulnerability, it was put to bed in "Captain Marvel Battles the Winged Death" in Whiz Comics #10 (Nov 1940).
