Fawcett's Answer to Superman to Debut in Flash Comics?

Flash Comics #1Captain Thunder was set to be the lead feature in Flash Comics, an anthology title that would feature mostly non-powered heroes including Spy Smasher, Golden Arrow, Lance O'Casey, Scoop Smith, and Dan Dare, as well as another magical character, Ibis the Invincible.

Unfortunately, Fawcett was slow on the draw and All-American Comics was quick out of the gate with their own Flash Comics featuring the titular super-speedster. Fawcett had to quickly come up with another title.

Before Whiz Comics, Captain Thunder almost starred in… Flash Comics.

Fawcett's Flash Comics was set to premiere in January 1940 but due to All-American securing the trademark, Fawcett had to quickly come up with a new title!
